Spanish Labyrinth (South from Granada), 2017
62mins

The film begins with a taped memoir and a forgotten film produced by two revolutionary filmmakers, Yves Allégret and Eli Lotar. produced following their arrest in Spain in 1931. Having lost their footage during their imprisonment, Stevens’ film, Spanish Labyrinth (South from Granada), 2016, retraces their journey to re-film locations in response to contemporary ecological and political realities in Spain. These include mass demonstrations that led to the occupation of Madrid’s Plaza del Sol and Spain’s in 2011 and largest recorded forest fires that spread through Andalusia in August of the following year.
